Managing Noise Phobias in Dogs

Presented by: Dr. Gary Landsberg

PHOENIX – April 6, 2011 Many veterinarians and pet owners know the world can be a scary place for dogs with noise phobias. All too often a “quick-fix” to pet behavior problems doesn’t get to the root cause of the problem or provide a long term solution.

On Thursday, April 21, Veterinary Products Laboratories (VPL) will sponsor a free, one hour webcast beginning at 1:00 p.m. EDT (noon CDT, 11 a.m. MDT, 10 a.m. PDT) to present the latest techniques and therapies to help clients manage noise phobia in their dogs.

Dr. Gary Landsberg will discuss how fears and phobias affect a dog’s quality of life and welfare while posing a serious concern for family members; therapeutic options that include both environmental management to minimize or mute exposure to the stimuli and behavior modification using desensitization and counter-conditioning; and, behavioral techniques that may be complemented with therapeutic or natural products to reduce the pet’s stress and improve the outcome of behavioral modifications.

The session is presented by board certified veterinary specialist Gary Landsberg DVM, DACVB, DECVB-CA. Dr. Landsberg offers behavior consultation services for owners of pets with behavior problems, is a frequent speaker on behavioral topics at veterinary conferences around the world, and has coauthored a number of veterinary behavioral texts, including Handbook of Behavior Problems of the Dog and Cat, (2nd edition, 2003).

Register now for this free webcast at www.dvm360.com/ev. The presentation time is approximately one hour and CE Credit* will be available for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
